CRISPIN TAYLOR Musician Producer
Nickname : THE PUMP
With some 35 years experience in the music industry Crispin has played on the worlds largest stages. Cutting his teeth on post punk bands in the early eighties Crispin went on to become the ‘Go To’ Funky drummer in the late 80’s Rare Groove Scene. As founder member of the Mighty live funk band PUSH he was recruited (along with the rhythm section) to Acid Jazz pioneers GALLIANO. They recorded 4 albums and toured the world selling in excess of 250.000 records.
Through the 90’s he toured and recorded for many artists including URBAN SPECIES and CARLEEN ANDERSON, CHARLES EARLAND and LEON WARE to name but a few. He also appeared on television with SEAL and recorded with PAUL WELLER.
In 2001 he joined ZERO 7 and toured the world for around 4 years helping them achieve their worldwide status.
In the following years Crispin along with his friends the Push rhythm section has performed with a veritable who’s who of Funk, Soul and Jazz including 12 years with MARLENA SHAW, some 8 years with CANDI STATON and 3 European tours with the FUNK BROTHERS original Motown rhythm section.
In 2003 he performed with DEXYS MIDNIGHT RUNNERS on their critically acclaimed come back tour.
Crispin’s inimitable drumming has graced the stage with artists such as : IMAGINATION, STEVE ARRINGTON, ATLANTIC STARR, CE CE PENISTON, JEAN CARNE, KENI BURKE, MARTHA REEVES, MELISSA MORGAN, GLENN JONES, PP ARNOLD, GWEN MCRAE and DENIECE WILLIAMS.
Crispin is currently drumming for THE BLOW MONKEYS and MOTHER EARTH and producing and remixing for MONKS ROAD RECORDS.
